A total of 21 people have died from the coronavirus in the US.
First Missouri Coronavirus Case Is In St. Louis County in a woman who had just returned from Italy.
Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams told Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union” today that he thinks the outbreak of the coronavirus is being contained in certain areas. “If we had massive numbers of cases we would be seeing more deaths. And so we actually feel pretty good that some parts of the country have contained it just like when you look at the flu. And when we look at the the flu tracker, some parts of the country are having much more severe flu seasons. Some are having very mild flu seasons. The same thing for Coronavirus,” Adams said.
Princess Cruises cancels sailing of the Regal Princess ship. Princess Cruises has also cancelled its Royal Princess cruise out of Los Angeles, after the CDC issued a “no-sail order”.
At this point in time, most of the US thought as COVID as mainly a “traveler’s disease” and not anything that would affect the average American.

Forward to the Present Time US COVID News
March 8, 2021
***************************
The US has 29,046,014 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and
525,728 confirmed Deaths from COVID-19 (John Hopkins Statistics)
One year ago today, this was totally unimaginable.
Even with 3 approved COVID vaccines in the USA & vaccinations under way, over 90% of the US population is not yet vaccinated. Meanwhile, a large number of states are prematurely dropping COVID restrictions and inviting coronavirus in. Yes, COVID numbers have plateaued and currently are no longer on the rise. However, COVID is still very much a part of life in America. We may want to tell ourselves that things are back to normal, but they really aren’t.
It took the USA 99 days to hit the first 1 Million COVID Case Mark.
However, it only took 16 days for add the most recent 1 Million COVID Cases of the virus.
That’s fast!!! Even faster than during the immediate post Winter Holiday surge in December and January;
up until January 23 when America then start to add a jaw dropping 1 Million new cases every few days .
If we consider 1 Million new COVID cases in just 15 days as being okay, we are wrong. The high number of new cases still indicate that now isn’t the time to let our guard down; as many are now doing. If we do, we (as a country) will later regret it.
“CDC director urges people to keep masking and distancing 'regardless of what states decide'” CNN
“CDC Says Fully Vaccinated People Can Gather Privately Without Masks. New guidelines direct fully inoculated people to wear masks and observe social distancing in public.” Wall Street Journal
“Vaccinated Americans should still avoid travel, CDC head says.” CNN
"There is so much that's critical riding on the next two months," CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky told the National League of Cities on Monday. "How quickly we will vaccinate versus whether we will have another surge really relies on what happens in March and April. A spike will be fueled by the B.1.1.7 variant, first spotted in the United Kingdom, and will come over the next six to 14 weeks.” CNN
