One of the Giant Silk Moths (Saturniidae). The wingspan is between 100-150 mm. A gigantic moth and always the highlight of any evening spent mothing.

Like our Bogong moth that invades Canberra each year, it too is large. Great detail that shows it's delicate and complicated makeup. Superb clarity. V

An impressive beauty indeed. And has those characters that seem (based on not much experience) to be typical of Saturniidae, short thick body, forewing much longer than hindwing.
