While much of America concerned themselves with the Super Bowl, COVID didn’t take a break.

There have been at least 27,004,716 total cases of coronavirus in the United States and at least 463,437 people have died from Covid-19 since the pandemic began, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The Super Bowl brings fears of another coronavirus surge.

Experts worry that football fans gathering on Sunday in Tampa, Fla.,
for the championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
AND at watch parties across the country,
could set back the nascent progress of recent weeks.

We’ll see. This seems highly possible. Our local news showed people packed close together & maskless indoors at bars across our Metro. National News showed large crowds of maskless folks partying with absolute abandon in the streets & bars in Tampa Bay tonight. The concept of social distancing seemed to be an alien concept. As for private Super Bowl parties, they are have taken place behind closed doors. Undoubtedly countless, multi household, private gatherings have also dismissed all COVID precautions. I assume similar was also happening today elsewhere across the country: not just in Kansas City & Tampa Bay.

People have been their own worst enemy in the battle with COVID.
