Concho Indian School

Some of the art is of important historical figures.
This is Black Kettle, a leader of the Southern Cheyenne.
He had brought his group to Winter along The Washita River in Western, Oklahoma.
This is where Yvetta and I live in Washita County, Oklahoma.
He died there in a confrontation with the U. S. Army even though he had long been at the forefront
of making peace with the government in order to protect his people.
Native Americans refer to this as the Washita Massacre while officially called The Battle Of The Washita.
George Armstrong Custer lead the troops in this slaughter. He was dead at The Little Big Horn about a year later.
There were atrocities on both sides and as all of history seems to be, very complicated and filled with violence.

a compelling image, and commendable treatment...Europeans brutality while spreading over the US must have been like a plague for native Americans..
