Tudwal serait né au Pays de Galles (ou peut-être au Devon) au début du VIeme siècle. Sa mère serait une sœur de Riwal, le chef de la grande émigration bretonne vers 515.
Vers 535, il aurait fondé un monastère, puis devint fut le premier évêque de Tréguier vers 550.
Tudwal est considéré comme l'un des sept saints fondateurs de la Bretagne.

Tudwal is believed to have been born in Wales (or perhaps Devon) at the beginning of the 6th century. His mother would be a sister of Riwal, the leader of the great Breton emigration around 515.
Around 535, he would have founded a monastery, then became the first bishop of Tréguier (North Brittany) around 550.
Tudwal is considered one of the seven founding saints of Brittany.
