29th - Barrel Roof

Yarningale Common, Warks. view map

Out for a walk with my two today at Yarningale; we walked along the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal and came across this pretty cottage at Bucket Lock. The design of these lenghtman's cottages with a barrel-shaped roof is unique to this canal and not found anywhere else on the canal network.

These barrel-roof cottages are so photogenic aren't they? I was writing 'supposedly unique to this canal' and then read your text!. V.

the curved bit does add flair...good the lengthman was well accomodated, and close to his towpath workplace..
