When our driveway was graveled in 2020, it was with crushed concrete that had, unknown to (or at least un-admitted by) anyone,
a surprising quantity of sharp metal hardware still in it. This is supposed to be removed with magnets in the process that produces it, but um, wasn't.
We began finding it the same day it was laid down, collecting a third of a 5-gallon bucket of it, and have continued to find it
as the weeks and years have gone by and our own three and several visitors' vehicles have rolled over it (miraculously, we've had no flat tires yet!).
This day's catch was with a set of strong magnets swung pendulum-fashion in an orphan sock, the most effective method I have tried so far.
We have alerted both the contractor and the gravel supplier; they first told us there would be a pull-behind-a-tractor magnet
coming soon that would pick up 400 pound items! Later, the story became that they would borrow a roofer's magnet-bar-on-rollers
(think of a toddler's push-toy!) and come roll that up and down the driveway. It's been three years now as I edit this;
no one and no such tool has materialized, and we're still finding wire pieces.
