The one downside of dining in Europe is that smoking is still permitted in some parts of the restaurant. This is not a particularly pleasant experience when one is trying to eat food. It's almost impossible to find restaurants in an English-speaking country which permit smoking in common eating areas. Europe seems to be heading the same way over time, just more slowly.
If you come from a country where it is no longer the norm, you just need to be aware of that. It's the reason that we asked for an indoor seat at the Terminus Nord restaurant that I referred to in the last couple of shots.
As is usually the case, I'm writing this commentary long, long after the shot was taken; almost a year which I find almost impossible to believe. One year on in the middle of the pandemic party, I do have to wonder whether I will ever have the opportunity to see Terminus Nord again. I suppose that if I do, it will be far enough into the future that I could learn to speak French first.
