So we finally got off the Eurostar. I had already decided where we were going to go for lunch. But first, to take my very first "on the ground" shot in Paris. This is the left-hand side of the Gare Du Nord train station, which services trains coming into Paris from the north. That includes from England, the Netherlands, Belgium and so on.
More specifically, it is the taxi stand just outside the station. You may be told by SOME people that all of the taxi drivers who come here speak English because there are so many English people arriving on the train. Or were, in the pre-Covid days. Do not believe them. However that's a story for another time.
Incidentally, bring your poker face when you arrive at this station because you will be touted to hell and back by private "taxis" who want to "help" you to reach your destination, probably at a far higher cost than you had bargained for because you're a dumb tourist who does not speak the local language. I suggest sticking to the official taxi stand. If you don't palez francais, having a pre-written note with your destination and a map would also be a wise move.
Addendum: My personal opinion is that Facebook is a sociopathic organisation that steals other peoples' intellectual property (including the images in this gallery) despite being explicitly denied permission to do so.
