Yard Rodents

A groundhog and a squirrel

These guys were my "small group" afternoon companions. We all remained at least 6 feet apart. More actually. When the squirrel attempted to approach the groundhog closer, the groundhog got frightened and ran off.

IQ sucks. It's terrible!!! Too slow of speed, hand held, poor lighting. Normally, I'd delete it.
Although I did take much better pictures today, I still like this scene's memory.
And that's what this gallery is about. My feelings of the day.

USA COVID News

“Motorcycles fill the streets of Sturgis, S.D., for a 10-day rally expected to attract 250,000 people - a figure that puts it on track to be among the country’s largest public gatherings since the first coronavirus cases emerged.

The herds of people driving recreational vehicles, bikes and classic cars overran every street in town, making no effort to keep six feet apart. Few masks could be seen, and free bandannas being passed out were mostly folded, or wrapped around people’s heads. With temperatures in the low 80s and not much cloud cover, many people crowded under shopping tents where “Screw Covid” shirts were sold.” NY Times

In 2 to 4 weeks or so from now, we’ll see the COVID fall out from this event. These 250,000 individuals will be returning to their home states. Many will be taking coronavirus with them.

From the CDC: The risk of COVID-19 spreading at events and gatherings increases as follows:

Lowest risk: Virtual-only activities, events, and gatherings.

Highest risk: Large in-person gatherings where it is difficult for individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart and attendees travel from outside the local area.

UPDATE 8-12-20: Just when I was sure the IQ was the result of poor camera work, I have discovered that the lens needs to go in for repairs. It's now suddenly giving me 30-40% OOF shots; no matter how or what I shoot. So something is obviously off with the autofocus. Unfortunately, CPS is currently not able to do business in the USA. And Canon Canada won't accept US equipment for repairs. So I'll have to wait to send the lens in for repairs... That means accepting an automatic 30-40% "bad" photos. This focus problem seems to quickly be getting worse and worse. Ugh. However I do still get so-so focus for about 60% of what I shoot. Not as sharp as it should be. But certainly a lot better than above.

UPDATE 8-15-20 Due to being hacked, Canon USA and Canon Canada totally are not available for anything. It's unclear how long this situation will last. Therefore, I will continue to use my faulty lens and hope to get a few decent images in between the fuzzy focus ones. Meanwhile, if a fuzzy shot best tells the story for a day in the "Isolation: Stay-at-Home 2020 - Summer" gallery, it will be used despite IQ. For the "Isolation" gallery, it's really the story that counts the most.

I agree - that's an exciting scene worth capturing.
