It Ain't Pretty

Poultry Netting

In fact, it’s pretty ugly.
And an inconvience.

But it does provide a tiny bit of security.

US COVID Situation Today

“Days after President Donald Trump defended his administration's ‘incredible’ handling of the coronavirus outbreak in a widely viewed interview, the nation's top health official (Dr Anthony Fauci) called the country's response ‘disparate’ and ‘not as well suited’ to the dynamics of the pandemic.

‘The country's response has allowed the daily COVID-19 case count to plateau at an ‘unacceptable level,’ Fauci said, warning that the U.S. will continue to ‘smolder’ without a unified effort to stop the virus.” USA Today

“Facebook removes Trump post for first time citing coronavirus misinformation rules; Twitter also clamps down… ‘This video is a violation of our policies around harmful COVID misinformation,’ Facebook spokesperson Liz Bourgeois told FOX News. A Twitter spokesperson told Fox News the tweet is ‘in violation of the Twitter rules on COVID-19 misinformation’” Fox News

Not COVID related, but a bit of humor for the day: “Twitter Dunks on Trump for Mispronouncing Yosemite National Park as 'Yo-Semite'…"As a Black Jew, when someone says Yo Semites, I'm quick to challah back," one Twitter user wrote in response .”

Although it has totally blocked our human use of the small patio next to the deck, netting (designed to protect chickens from hawk attacks) now allows our dogs to go outside again without our having to stand directly over them. We can again watch the dogs from inside the house.

This solution has a lot of disadvantages. One disadvantage is that this prohibits us humans from using this door or that patio. However, at least, it does provide our little dogs reasonable protection in a small area.

Today was the first time in almost 3 weeks that the girls were able to lay outdoors to sunbathe again. They love to sunbathe!!! We leave the door to the house cracked open for them to come back inside if they get too hot. Even so, we never allow the Chis out unless we’re in the kitchen and able to see them out of the patio door. Anyhow, the dogs are now again a little bit happier after being able to spend some time outside today. Because of the continuing hawk danger, they still aren’t allowed back on the deck; except for one at a time & under the strictest of supervision. But something is better than nothing. They’re no longer totally stuck indoors 23 ¾ hours a day (or more).

Hopefully, we can eventually find a better, longer term solution to the hawk problem. But for now, this is what we got. It’s more effective than the Raptor Vest https://pbase.com/britestar/image/170918775 & takes a little bit of stress off us.

A bit of a parallel - you being indoors to protect against the virus and "the girls" against the hawk !! Sad world !!

Should give some protection against the hawk.
