Dan,

Thanks for your nice comment and your thoughtful question. The question will spur me into action. See below.

The 8x10 contact print IS beautiful to my eye. It's one of my all-time favorite b&w contact prints.

No, I haven't made a print from the iPhone image. I don't think it would be very good. The reason is my poor technique: I lay the contact print on the floor near a window, stand above it trying to hold the iPhone steady, which I absolutely can not do. I'm 83 years old and more than a little shakey. So, since camera movement is the #1 cause of image degradation, it's never as sharp as it could be.

To give the iPhone camera a fair shake, I would need some type of tripod-like device to hold the phone perfectly still. I'm intrigued by the idea, so I think I'll figure out a way to make it work. My hunch is that it will produce a very nice image -- much better than the one I posted.

Stand by. I'm going to order an iPhone holding clamp for one of my tripods and give it a try. Plus, I'm getting a new iPhone 11/12 which has a little better camera, which is much more flexible. So, be patient, it may be a while.

Take care.

I bet the original print was fantastic. Have you made a print from the iPhone version?
