Lampaul.

The island of Ouessant is called the Isle of Women. Most of the men were engaged in the merchant navy so that the women took care of everything on land: education of the children, agriculture, housework, management of the everyday life problems.
The island has only 835 inhabitants and the village of Lampaul includes school, shops, health and care facilities.
Fishing has never really made the island live because no important port can be built in this stormy environment. The winds that sweep the island bring salt foam that makes farming difficult.
Today Ouessant lives mainly from tourism and sheep farming. Honey is also famous in this preserved environment (no factory on the island and the lack of agriculture preserves soils from chemical fertilizers). Ouessant Black Wading Bee (Apis mellifera mellifera) is a small, wind-resistant bee with no predators. It provides honey with inimitable flavour and fragrance…

Such a desolate place, wish them more water for the boats to float into the open sea to get me some Loup de mer and Hommard Bretonne! Wishful thinking though! Voté

I recall that France has some record breaking tides. This appears like one. Well shown from this vantage point. "VV"

that is a small harbour...the women of the island must be a capable group, and to be admired for virtually running everything..

The tides out in this wonderful capture.
