Fawnless Doe

This is the mother of the newborn fawn that my husband saw born in our front yard over Memorial Day weekend. The fawn disappeared soon after its birth. The mother still has slightly swollen breasts, but there is now no baby.

The doe is all alone.

USA
2,388,153 Confirmed cases of COVID-19
122,610 American Deaths

Note: Coronavirus is gaining ground in the USA. Nationwide, cases have risen 15 percent over the last two weeks.

Locally: On Saturday, Missouri reported the highest one-day total of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, but that was then topped by the new cases reported on Sunday. Stats for today (Monday) haven't yet come in. New coronavirus cases are also setting record highs in Kansas; with the majority of those new cases being in the Kansas City metro.

Meanwhile: The current US president told his supporters on Saturday that Covid-19 testing is "a double-edged sword." He bragged: "I said to my people, 'Slow the testing down please.". Later, he spun that his comment was made "in jest". As if 122,610 dead Americans is a joke... He later also said "Instead of 25 million tests, let's say we did 10 million tests. We'd look like we were doing much better because we'd have far fewer cases. You understand that." Obviously, "appearances" are more important to him than lives. I don't understand the reasoning nor the "joke".

Since my current physical world is limited to our property, I'll undoubtedly being posting additional new photos of this doe as the Summer progresses. Because she gave birth here, I'm sure she'll be back.

It's so sad that she has lost her baby, great that you will keep us informed over summer.

Great shot of this visitor to your yard Liz. The baby is probably well hidden in the tall grasses somewhere nearby.
