I've been stalking this male wood duck since iceout with little success.
I know his spots but if I'm there waiting he doesn't show.
If I happen to come upon him when he's there, approaching is impossible. If I so much as twitch a muscle he disappears.
Today I arrived at the spot just as he and the Mrs were flying in for a splash down.
They didn't see me as I was well back in the trees, and I managed a usable shot, at least, albeit with a significant crop.
