Fried Roses.

At home in the rose garden.

Just a small sample... there were many many more looking like this... but the cool
change came through and amazingly alongside these fried blooms are freshly opened roses
this morning! We are so lucky to have nothing worse than this to show for such a
catastrophic day of heat and fires.

This morning a huge limb came down on our ancient gum tree... in this photo you can see
evidence of a limb that came down yesterday from a lemon scented gum... only visible in
this image is the top few twiggy branches. I couldn't get the entire limb into a photo.

Only 55 fires listed this morning, down from 184 last night. The wind has changed
to the east, we are so thankful that didn't happen yesterday or we would have been
in the firing line.

I echo Barbara's comment. So glad that the danger has passed for now. Stay safe!

Very nice selection and so well presented. Glad the fire situation is improving for you.

Very sad Yvonne. Some of ours looked the same after Friday's 45 deg. We have been worrying about you and now I thankfully read that you are safe although surrounded with tragedy. The cool change came through here but we are suburban and not out in the glorious bush that you are. Stay safe always.

Amazing temperatures for them not to make it, glad this is all the damage you had!

How sad. Poor roses.
But how great that you were spared the worst of things.

It is unimaginably frightening to think of all those fires burning, and so close. Your photos of the roses indicate the searing conditions.
