Exit Doorway

Mt. Lofty

The easiest exit doorway when its time to leave.

Mount Lofty House came through the awful bushfires (wild-fires) of the 1980's with quite a lot of
damage. This section of the house has been added since the big fires and I think the
new part fits quite nicely with the original house. Alongside the house was a building that
was completely gutted, that and many more were burnt and completely razed by the fire.

One day I'll go back and take some photos of the original section, if it is at all possible.

They have done a fine job...I'm sure it's a memorable place to stay.

I remember those fires so well as it was a couple of years after we had moved north. A member of our amily lost their home in the Dandenong Ranges in Vic. These were the Ash Wednesday, February 1983, over 70 lives lost and I assume this was when Mt Lofty House was razed ?

the reconstruction is very successful and harmonizes well with the central part of the building with these beautiful columns and arches of the entrance! V

It is so beautiful (as is your lovely image of it) and hard to believe it was destroyed so badly. Fires are such a tragedy, and your country has had a lot lately. V

Very tastefully restored - looks like a great place to stay. V
