It is getting close to Halloween. Some friends of ours host quite a Halloween party that features extensive decorations of their house and a very nice selection of finger food. It is really quite well done. Ginny looks forward to it with great anticipation. I look forward to it with dread. There are a number of reasons for my feelings. First, all the attendees are very nice people. They mostly share a common attribute which is they were band moms when our kids were in high school. This is a group that gets together monthly for a lunch out to celebrate birthdays. In reality, I hardly know them.

Second, putting together a Halloween costume isn't any where the top of my "to do" list. Ginny loves it and she pursues her costumes with great gusto.

Third, since I don't know these people very well, conversation rarely gets beyond the old reliable,"What are the kids up to?" and "Aren't grand-kids fun." It tends to be a very long evening for me.

Fourth, last time I went, I got into a discussion with a couple idiots. Now, these two people are college trained engineers, hardly fodder for the idiot pile. The gist of the conversation was that electrical vehicles were non polluting. It was clear that their idiot progressive philosophies had managed to overwhelm their engineering training. It was my mistake to make the situation worse by saying some things that I immediately regretted. Ginny had a professor whose motto was "Never argue with and idiot." I had forgotten that, much to my embarrassment.

So this year Ginny allowed me to opt out and I stayed home. She is extremely accommodating on some things. Actually, it was enlightened self interest because when I go along, I am chomping at the bit ready to go home in less than an hour. That is not fair to her because her passion is talking with friends, which can be very time consuming. So, off she went. She returned four hours later very satisfied with her time at the party. She had a bag full of Halloween candy which really sweetened the pot.

Today's photo is of Ginny ready to head off the party. She was very excited about the red fingernail polish. I think she was a very hot looking witch.
