An antique 19th Century tsakli painting in mineral pigments depicting Agni, the God of Fire. Fire is considered to be one of the 4 basic elements, and is revered for its powers of transformation. Within his elongated nimbus and green mandorla, Agni stands upon his lotus throne, bedecked with a garland of flowers and gold bodhisattva jewellery, holding his identifying attributes, the rosary (mala) and holy water of life sprinkler with the three peacock feathers, their 'eyes' representing the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. 10.1 x 12.4cm
