An antique 19th Century or earlier (much earlier) tsakli painting in mineral pigments depicting, within a large moon shaped orb of a nimbus and peach coloured mandorla, the gentle faced and beautiful goddess Green Tara (Syamatara) the Saviouress, seated in rajalilasana, the position of Royal ease on her lotus throne, one foot pendant and supported by a lotus . Her right hand is in varada mudra, the gesture giving, as she holds the stem of her lotus flower at her shoulder. Her left hand is in vitarka mudra, the gesture of victorious argument. She wears a multi-layered red dhoti beneath a green choli, her green celestial scarf billowing about her. Her hair is tied in a high chignon topped by a jewel, behind her lavish crown, and she wears copious bodhisattva jewellery.She has two yellow silk suspension tabs glue to the reverse side, indicating the this tsakli was placed on an altar. 8.6 x 10.3cm
