Day 22
Yesterday was a long relocation day to Ohio. Today we started a visit to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the 47th National Park on our quest to see them all. We were blessed with great weather and we drove around the park seeing various things, mostly waterfalls. This park is situated along the Cuyahoga River between Akron and Cleveland. The Ohio and Erie Canal ran along sort of parallel to it. That was a significant route for barge traffic starting in 1833. Once the railroads made it through, the canal lost its source of revenue. I found it interesting that the park seemed more interested in promoting it environmental stuff over the historic stuff. Maybe that is just my view of the thing. It seems that history always gets edged out by environmental stuff. Sad.
It was a fun day. Of course we enjoyed the experience.
