I tried to keep the tip in the same plane in this shot in Pending: https://pbase.com/image/169310690

DPP doesn't stack? I'm asking for my money back.

I agree about stacking and that thought entered my mind but at the same time the last I knew Dave didn’t have a photo editing program advanced enough for photo stacking. But I admit life has been busy lately to the point I miss important details in the forum and the challenge. Paul

Paul - maybe. This was already at f/8. But you don't want to lose it.
I think focus stacking is the best way to go. But this is nearly impossible handheld.

The first thing that catches my eye about this image is the pure smooth background bokeh and if you stop down that will all be gone. Paul

The challenge that you have is that this fern is that it is not all in one plane. The tip sort of curls out toward you. This makes it really tough to shoot. You probably need to shoot at different angles and see which one works best. Slowly rotate yourself clockwise around the plant. But you might lose some of the beautiful background that way.

This would also be a great case for focus stacking. I have never done much, but it would probably work here. If you can get at this one with a tripod, you could also shoot slower shutter speeds.

Thank you both. I am flattered. The light was waning when I shot this and didn't want to go higher than F/8 to avoid excessive ISO. I would like to have another try at f/11 and f/16 (maybe f/22?) to get more of the fern in focus.

Oooooh, how nice! Only thing that would make this better is..... well honestly nothing.
I have something kind of similar in mind that I’ve done before that I’m gonna try.
