Flash Flooding Area Wide. Local News Headlines: "Heavy rain adds to concerns for areas recovering from Missouri River flooding."
The grey skies and heavy rain today and tonight have been quite the change from the couple hour break in the rain yesterday with the pretty double rainbow at dusk: https://pbase.com/britestar/image/169127489
The first day of May has been our 5th straight day of heavy rain. More rain is predicted for tomorrow and for most of next week. After a very long, very cold Winter, temperatures are finally pleasant to be outside. Unfortunately, we've been trapped indoors because of all this rain. However I won't complain too much because other parts of the US are having even worst weather.
As a note: the golden color in this image is coming from a yellow light bulb. However, to properly expose the rain in the black night, I had to let the light itself blow out and lose detail... That allowed the rain coming down to show. There is some noise in the image, too. Sometimes, the art of photography is a matter of technical compromises: even when shooting RAW.

May Day has its roots in astronomy. Traditionally, it was the halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice!
