In a well know fictional account, Delilah takes away Sampson’s
power by cutting his hair. Young boys will engage in power
struggles with their parents over hair styles. Soldiers cut
their hair uniformly to convey strength. Musicians and males
with strong independent streaks will let their hair grow long
or wear unique cuts as a form of rebellion. Males lose their
hair as they age and for many it is a traumatic experience
even if they are not vane in other areas of their life.
