At the present time, this species is considered to be decreasing in numbers, particularly the western populations, while the eastern populations are not doing too badly, though not as abundant as they once were.

Nice photo of this little beauty. Their populations down here have declined in places. They used to be in my yard, but now we see Pickerel Frogs instead.
