30. Newark Priory

Ripley, Surrey, England view map

This 12th century ruin must be the oldest structure in my locale. It was mainly destroyed when King Henry VIII created the Church of England with him as its head rather than The Pope and the Catholic Church.

Today, it is on private farmland and is not open to the public.

I like this composition a lot. Framed by the trees, the priory looks lonely... standing all these centuries alone. What an amazing site to have on one's land! V
