shutdown

Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado

seems the US Senate has today rejected bills to end the current government shutdown...many departments are affected, like national parks, and more significantly almost a million employees are no longer paid wages... politicians are seldom to be trusted to make correct decisions, or find the best solutions...seems a flawed system needs rebuilding, brick by brick

Very nice view of the Mesa Verde buildings - what the US government does is sometimes very difficult to understand (V)

A nice picture of a civilizations disappearance.

Yes it does. I wish we could go back in time a few years. Very interesting history here. V

Seems like we all agree the guy in charge is a jerk and our country is in deep trouble. Time to start rebuilding, like you said, brick by brick.
Beautiful photo of this area we missed when were visited out there many years ago.

The bricks are disintegrating I fear !! Super shot ! V

A lovely photo of this beautiful monument,

Luckily today, he reversed his position and the shutdown is over at least temporarily. All it accomplished was to hurt a lot of normal people, weaken our government services, trash our national parks, and so on. The only good thing it accomplished was to give him and his congressional supporters a huge black eye that I hope is not forgotten The mere fact he chose to do this to get his monument to himself is reason enough he shouldn't be president. Wonderful image David. You were there on a great day. ~BV~

What a sorry state of affairs, but a cool shot making the point.

Beautiful light on these old walls.
Don't get me started on politicians......

Unless they get the money out of politics, the norms that have buttressed the US constitution will continue to degenerate. Corporate control of American government is an even bigger long-term problem than evil Trump, in my opinion.
On a more positive note, cool image.

une belle lumière qui magnifie ces vieux murs ! v

Mesa Verde is a fantastic place. I would love to visit again, when it is open...

A superb image to illustrate your words...I don't know if Pueblos were wise people but I'm sure it is difficult to be more stupid than some politicians to day, constantly surfing on the primitive instincts of the peoples and, unfortunately, increasingly dividing their own people. V.

When the president declares "L'État, c'est moi" that's when we are in real trouble. BTW, great shot of the Mesa area. V

a wonderful place to visit, superb composition and lighting! V

What a great capture. Even before I read your commentary, this image immediately evoked thoughts that were then confirmed by what you wrote. I also agree with Paco: wonderful composition, light, and textures.

Wonderful compo, light and textures! V!

Seems politicians are about the same en every country.V.

Neat image nicely complimenting your text/description David.
Nirvan Hope25-Jan-2019 02:56
I hope your trip doesn't have plans to visit any national parks:( I won't even get started on the political insanity...

I completely concur with Walter. It is utterly disgraceful and shows that so much power should not be invested in one individual (especially if that one has the temperament of a vengeful bully). However, I enjoy this shot, both because Mesa Verde is such a great place to visit, and because of the brick by brick analogy. V

Wonderful view of this mesa dwelling. Our country is dangerously divided. V

The fact that one person has the power to shut down the government proves that there is something seriously wrong with the political system. The fact that it can be done purely for political reasons is nothing short of criminal.
Marcia Rules25-Jan-2019 01:44
it's criminal what's going on. Embarrassed to be an American.
Jim Coffman25-Jan-2019 00:08
Welcome to our terribly flawed government!!
Helen Betts25-Jan-2019 00:02
I'd have to agree with that; the whole situation is disgraceful, and I speak as someone who is personally affected by the shutdown. A great capture, too, David.
