The day started out pretty crappy and then got worse. We showed up on time for our pre-booked tour and were told all the seats were taken. The bozos oversold the tour and we were just screwed. We ended up getting a full refund and tickets for the Hop On Hop Off bus. Sounded like a deal. We got off the bus at Golden Gate park with the intention of taking another bus around the park. After waiting an hour and a half I called the bus company and got to wait another twenty minutes until a person answered. Turns out the damn bus wasn't supposed to go into the park because of some concert but the marginally English speaking driver didn't get the message. We ended up walking about a mile to where we could get the bus outside the park. Eventually we got to Fisherman's Wharf where we were to get an afternoon tour of Alcatraz.
The Alcatraz tour was interesting. We did a behind the scenes tour with about 30 other people and a ranger. I like having a human leading a tour because you can ask questions. Later we took an audio tour which was well done. After viewing the movie we joined a mob of people heading back to town. I think I don't need to go back to Alcatraz again.
Back on shore we decided to have a go at using Uber. I had the app installed and gave it a go. Fortunately there were other people nearby to show us how to use the darned thing. We got back to the hotel quickly and cheaply.
