Pub sign commemorating The Guinea Pig Club.
Established in 1941 and founded by Archibald McIndoe ,as a patient support group and social club.
The club was a group of mostly RAF aircrew who underwent reconstructive plastic surgery after suffering burn injuries during the Second World War, such as at the Battle of Britain.
Members were treated by Sir Archibald McIndoe at the burns unit of The Queen Victoria Hospital,East Grinstead,West Sussex,England.
