There are approximately 30 Snapping turtles that wander up from the marsh to lay their eggs. They lay approximately 18 to 20 eggs within ~ 2 hours. The racoons are the main predators and will wait until the turtle is finished and will devour them while they are still warm! They are listed as 'special concern' under the 'Ontario Endangered Species Act' and the federal Species at Risk Act.
