Rusty’s is only about a 12 minute walk from my house. It turned out to be the spot for a monthly get-together for some of my co-workers, and it turns out they had a Reuben on the menu…. The $9.99 “Rusty’s Rueben” is served with several options for a side- I chose the fries- and a pickle spear. This was the first Reuben that came with the dressing (thousand island in this case) on the side. I believe the sauce is an integral part of the Reuben formula, and should be applied by the chef and not served on the side in a small plastic cup. I applied what I thought was the proper amount of the dressings, as well as a little bit of yellow mustard which I normally do. The rye bread was not the slightest bit soggy on the bottom, and was almost perfectly toasted- maybe just a tad on the crispy side. The corned beef was pretty good- not the most tender I’ve had, but decent. It could have used more of it, as well as more cheese. It was on the smaller side of sandwiches that I have had. My overall grade is a C to a C-. I probably would not walk there to get the Reuben, but could see myself ordering it again if I was not in the mood for a burger….
