Tram depot from Arnhem

Arnhem, Arnheim

A bad day in 1944 changes public transportation now. The fact that there are no trams but trolley
buses in Arnhem has everything to do with the events on 18 September 1944. On that day, during the
Battle of Arnhem, fighting and a grenade attack destroyed the tram depot, tram sets and a large
part of the overhead lines. . The draw is no longer restored. But more than 50 years later,
part of it has been reconstructed here in the museum. Complete with the architectural facade and
cast-iron windows. The reconstruction is based on old photos and the memories of former employees
, because the original building plans are missing. The reconstructed draw measures approximately
one sixth of the original building. It is home to the trams that now run through the museum.
Reconstructed in 1996
