Kaan village

Obiré

The Kaan people moved from Ghana to Burkina Faso. More commonly they are referred to as Gan, a name given to them by the French. Gan means 'slave' in their local language. In traditional villages like Obiré, the round houses are inhabited by women whereas the men live in rectangular houses.
