The Bearded Bellbird was one species that I really wanted to work on during our visit to Trinidad this month. We heard them pretty much all day long at the nature centre but getting a good view of one displaying took a bit more effort and patience. One of the local names for this bird is the “anvil bird” and that name is very appropriate. Part of the display is a long series of quick metallic sounding calls that really does sound like a blacksmith hammering on a piece of metal.
We will be doing this trip again in spring of 2019, if you think you might be interested more information is available here: www.texastargetbirds.com/group-photo-trips/2019-trinidad/
