Launched in 1900 as one of three 6700 ton Pallada-class protected cruiser, it survived the Battle of Tsushima against the Japanese in the Pacific.
On 25 October 1917, it fired a blank shot to signal the start of the assault on the Winter Palace. That became the start of the Bolsheviks October Revolution, which brought the world over 100 years of misery under Communist dictatorships with over 100 million people killed.
