Malatya is a large city and province in eastern Anatolia that has been inhabited since the development of agriculture in the Fertile Crescent, nearly 6,000 years ago. These are the ancient walls of the settlement known as Eski Malatya (Old Malatya), a few kilometers from the modern city.
