Turkish-Syrian border

Taken on the Syrian border while we were between Urfa and Gaziantep (these photos aren’t arranged chronologically at the moment). I didn’t realize it, but Tim said this was Kobani, a Kurdish town in northern Syria’s Aleppo Province. It had been under siege by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) from September 2014 until January 2015, long after we were there.

Such a shame. It is a beautiful part of the world that has suffered so much. V

the peaceful appearance belies the turmoil in the area...otherwise seems sympathetic, if not exactly lush, terrain..
