Whenever I set up lights and white cloths in the woods to attract moths (for photography), invariably predators are attracted too. Predacious stinkbugs, spiders, ants, other predatory insects, sometimes even spring peeper frogs, all come to see what is on offer. The lights attract not only moths but all of the above insects too, as well as other bugs such as this leafhopper prey, katydids, cicadas, beetles, flies, the occasional butterfly and dragonfly, salamanders on rare occasions, and who knows what else! I always feel badly for the insects that get caught though.
