MACHIAS SEAL ISLAND, GULF OF MAINE

Some species, like this Yellow Bellied Sapsucker, are seen every year on MSI but the number that stop here fluctuates wildly from almost none to hundreds in a single day.
Few stop by choice because the habitat is unwelcoming and we often see them using places like this door to perch.
