Japanese lantern

We visited the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum at the National Arboretum, reputed to hold one of the finest collections of miniature masterpieces in North America, with bonsai originating from Japan and penjing from China.

One of the Japanese lanterns on the grounds outside the Japanese garden, which was closed.

We have one similar to that in the gardens here, we sometime burn incent, frankincense in it, letting the smell drift away in the gardens

I love Japanese stone lanterns, big or small, but this shot of one is beautifully enhanced by the blossoms in the greenery below.
