One of the rooms that got wallpaper was the guest bathroom or powder room. I am not sure of the proper nomenclature. Ginny and Melinda spent a lot of time searching for the perfect paper. They did a good job. It looks great. The toilet in the powder room is the one I use most frequently. Over the 37 years we have lived here, you can imagine that many, many hours were spent standing in front of the porcelain appliance. During those occasions about all you can do other than the job at hand is to look at the wall. There was a piece of artwork there before and I imagine that it might be returned to the same position. John - it was truly art because I liked it and it didn't get purchased with public funds. So now I stare at the wallpaper. It is interesting because it has some shiny parts. It is also interesting because it changes its appearance depending on where you look relative to the light fixture. But what I find more interesting is that if I look at the periphery of where the ceiling light is reflected, it takes on an appearance of quarter inch deep channels. This is the case whether or not I have been communing with John Barleycorn.

Well, that makes for an interesting picture, maybe. I tried several and couldn't get the appearance of the depth. Maybe the illusion is due to stereoscopic vision. I showed Ginny the illusion, but she couldn't see it. Maybe it is some kind of guy thing. As a final attempt to photograph the illusion, I tried the flash (bottom image). The result was an entirely different visual effect. That was pretty cool. Unlike a normal printed wallpaper, this one reflects light is different ways.

I wish to thank Ginny and Melinda for selecting a design that provided today's installment of What I Did Today. Remember, easily amused.
