Die Grabkapelle am alten Sachsler Kirchturm ist in verschiedenen Etappen zwischen 1600 und 1878 entstanden. Sie wurde um die erste Grabstätte von Bruder Klaus erbaut. Unter der Steintumba mit der Sandsteinfigur von 1518 ist noch die stark abgeschliffene älteste Grabplatte von 1487 sichtbar. Sie erscheint wegen des erhöhten Bodenniveaus versenkt.

The 600th anniversary of the birth of Niklaus von Flüe (1417 - 1487) is being celebrated in 2017. The commemoration represents an opportunity to rediscover Niklaus von Flüe’s personality and the timeless values he stood for. One of Switzerland’s most influential leading figures and a creator of a common identity, “Brother Klaus”, as he is commonly known, serves as an iconic inspiration in areas as diverse as mysticism and spirituality, society and politics. But he was also just a man with strengths and weaknesses. Niklaus von Flüe – mystic, mediator and man – and his accomplishments are being brought into public awareness this year.
