Project Day 101 - Exile Day 51 - Today was the day of inspections, and we encountered some problems. I pulled in just as the plumbing inspector was leaving and we started talking. He explained that the only discrepancy was that some material had to be removed to allow a one inch clearance around a furnace vent. That was on the previous punch list, but not completed. He would have to come back again and inspect after that repair was made. As we were talking, the workers came back from lunch and the inspector told them what was needed. He agreed to wait a few minutes for the work to be done so he could sign off on final inspection. They got it done and we had the plumbing inspection complete.
The electrical inspection was a different story. There were problems with the location of the GFCI for the undercounter power strips. Additionally a GFCI was needed for the dishwasher and disposal. We also were told it was ok to have a duplex socket for the washer but it had to be a GFCI. The electrical contractor told us it had to be a single. Well, that was unexpected. The result is that we have to have the electricians back to get this done. So we are for sure here in the hotel until the middle of next week. This was one time I am feeling frustration with the general contractor. We assumed that he would have all this stuff under control. We must admit that most of it has been under control, but these end game boo-boos are disappointing.
The plan for the weekend is to start moving things into their proper places. Ginny and I moved all the stuff out by ourselves, so we can reverse the process and put it back. I am looking forward to that. The weekend should be fun.
