Yellow-shouldered slug moth caterpillar (Lithacodes fasciola), #4665

Reveler Conservation Area

Another tiny and very un-caterpillar-like moth caterpillar. The little shiny white seed like thing on the left side is actually the egg of a parasitic fly. That means this little caterpillar is doomed. To see the moth this turns into: http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/163521934

What a fantastic close up.... sad about the parasite! We have parasitic wasps
that lay eggs in aphid and when the young hatch they eat the aphid from
the inside.. v

Great detail of this tiny little thing. Too bad it's doomed, or perhaps you flicked the egg away...

modest, yet with lovely colour...as for the parasite, clearly this is a bug eat bug world..

An unusual caterpillar and an equally unusual looking moth. Great finds.
