This view looks about north toward Poison Spider Mesa, The Portal, and the Moab Rim Trail (see the notes left of center). This is in an unnamed area that I call the "Jackson-Kane plateau" because it lies between Jackson Hole and Kane Springs Canyon.

The view shows the area I had hiked up, starting on the Amasa Back Trail, branching onto a mountain bike trail, then following an old 4x4 trail that comes up this canyon. A scramble got me from the canyon bottom to this point.

Weather that day was nothing to cheer about but my exploration was nonetheless satisfying. There is more terrain in this area to be explored, so I must return.
