I decided to do some mothing (setting up a black light and white cloth) at the conservation area tonight. It was a warm clear night, and though the season for mothing is slowing down (at least up this way), there was still a good variety. I checked nearby trees too and found this very large moth. It is sitting on the trunk of an ironwood tree (AKA hop hornbeam) and blends in remarkably well. Eventually it came over to the white cloth.
