The 16th-century pulpit is the most important work of art in the nave, a masterpiece of Late Gothic sculpture decorated with the figures of the Four Fathers of the Church (St. Augustine of Hippo, St. Ambrose, St. Gregory the Great, and St. Jerome).
It is separated into three sections; the bottom, middle and top. Each is sculpted from solid pieces of limestone.
It is work of Anton Pilgram (also Anton Pilchramb), a late medieval Austrian (German) architect and sculptor.
