Dogbane beetle (Chrysochus auratus)

Reveler Conservation Area

I was very happy to come across a number of these beautiful beetles near a healthy stand of spreading dogbane. Although the beetle I photographed was not on the dogbane, it is spreading dogbane that is their primary, usually only food source. Occasionally they may be found on milkweeds.
