We took a ride on the Portland Aerial Tram during our long stay there, something, like the Japanese garden, that we had never done before in all the many years we have been visiting Tim’s family in Portland. The tram travels a horizontal distance of 3,300 feet (1,000 m) and a vertical distance of 500 feet (150 m) in a ride that lasts three minutes, traveling from the South Waterfront neighborhood to OHSU Hospital. Although intended for commuters to the hospital, it is open to the public and has become quite a tourist attraction for great views of the city.
I couldn’t leave out Mount St. Helens, just barely visible peeking out behind the hills at left, one of the three mountains that can be seen from Portland. The beautiful new Tillikum Crossing bridge is at right.
