Walsh River

As a final exploration before I headed for home, I ventured 30 km out along “the road less travelled” to the Walsh River crossing.
This had sentimental value as the Walsh River sources from springs in the upland rainforest not so far from my home http://www.pbase.com/donfranklin/walsh .
Though the straightline distance from the source to here isn’t so far – about 125 km – this is a different world, almost 1,000 metres lower and part of the sprawling seasonally hot-and-dry savanna of southern Cape York Peninsula.

This is the final upload to this gallery.

The countryside does look hot and dry, but that blue blue water looks very cool and inviting as it meanders through the dark rock river banks.

Fascinating commentary on this lovely shot. One can feel the heat coming off this image.

looks a very interesting river (for amusement, my local one rises at 20M 12km west and has dropped to 3M near us!)
